find that painting is one of the only activities that quiets the constant bouncing around of thoughts and anxieties in my head. Having the power, as an artist, to be able to create absolutely anything, to be able to reflect the world how I see it, allows me to have an infinite amount of control in a world that makes me feel like I have none otherwise. I find my inspiration in the people around me and the different ways they interact with the world. More recently due to the pandemic and spending a large amount of time alone, I have been looking inwards for inspiration to find out more about myself in order to hopefully understand other people as well. I find the human body particularly fascinating, more specifically the separation of the body as a vessel and the mind as its inhabitant, so I like to experiment with how to portray each separately from the other.
