I am an only child. Throughout my life, I have found painting to be the best answer to the infamous problem that only children have: time spent alone. Naturally, this led me to spend most of my time in my room. As I’ve matured, my room has reflected my different life stages, through changes in the placement of furniture and wall colors, and objects collected and used along the way. Recently, I’ve seen my room more as a welcoming and accepting friend than four walls filled with inanimate objects.
I have found myself drawn to painting images of moments in my room that I feel express this sentiment best. These moments are composed of objects that I see or use every day, with whom I have a simple yet strong bond. The stories I share through my paintings are of the day-to-day routines in which I live. My hope is that for every object I paint, there is someone who sees the same comfort in their routine as well.
